DH Chipmunk v3.0 for FSX .

Christmas (December 24th 2006) Revised December 6th, 2011

*********** Please - Do Not Upload anywhere. ***********

The downloading of this aircraft from this site has been kindly authorized by Rick Piper for the sole purpose and convenience to the Digital Theme Park organization in the operation of their Virtual Air Races, Group flights, and Aerobatics lessons.

Some components of this aircraft have been replaced, taking advantage of the advances made with the introduction of FSX SP2.

These are as follows:-

Replacement of the bmp textures with FSX-compliant .dds format textures:

The .air and aircraft.cfg files have been fully built from scratch by Bernt Stolle, bernt.stolle@gmx.at, using Aircraft Airfile Manager v2.1.

A gentleman only known to me as DaveWG on the www.forum.avsim.net provided bitmaps
http://forum.avsim.net/topic/241056-rick-pipers-chipmunk/page__p__1528769__hl__chipmunk__fromsearch__1#entry1528769

for the floor compass base and the g-meter the g-meter still missing a pointer, but as he points out its better than nothing. I have to assume these are issues arising from FSX - SP2.

Lastly an alternate sound package is included, courtesy of Gary Jones, garfy67uk@yahoo.co.uk along with Ricks original sounds.

This aircraft is unfinished, and is a work in progress.

We are most grateful to Rick for his generosity in allowing our special use of his beautiful creation, and I recommend each of us visit Ricks Paint Shop, http://www.btinternet.com/~rick.piper/ and also that of http://www.cbfsim.org, the hosting site for many, if not all, of Ricks many classic British aircraft.
Here you will be treated to the works of Dave Garwood, Saverio Maurri, David Maltby, Garry Russell, Dan Watkins and others, with especial thanks to Dave Booker, without whose help this particular Chipmunk may not have been in your hands at this moment!,

Those with a sense of nostalgia, and who would like to bring back many happy memories will enjoy this unique site.

Installation:

1). Create a temporary folder, drop in the zip file, and unpack it.

2). Highlight the main "Chipmunk V3.0" folder, and copy that entire folder over to your "{FSX_root}\SimObjects\Airplanes" folder, just as you would with any other aircraft.

3). Lastly - browse inside this folder and copy the contents of the Effects folder into your FSX_Root\Effects folder - or you will have missing lights.

That's all!

Enjoy.

FEATURES & NOTES:

Checklists & reference cards in html format (kneeboard)

Includes Panel + Custom lighting effects etc.

Panel Manual in html format & links from Check/Ref cards.

Full moving parts + detailed gear & suspension.

Normal exit key opens canopy.

Please note that the panel contains a GPS to aid flightsimmers of varying levels.
some of which like to use the GPS system.

The Chipmunk does not have an Autopilot!.
Autopilot is enabled but has no gauge so key combinations will need to be used.

Radio is not strictly accurate but is an older unit to suit the earlier Chipmunk.

The 2D panel is still here (I wanted to have 3d only but will get told off if I remove it.)

Still a few errors so please don't rush to tell me all of them as I guarantee Ii know them all very well.

Please note that the 2D compass may not function correctly. It's the default P type compass from the Comet racer that came with FS9 & I always wondered what was odd about it, and now, having built this time a fully functioning P type compass in 3D I know the default one is very wrong

This aircraft is unfinished, and is a work in progress - Rick Piper.

*****Please read all text files & Html files that are included before you fly*****

*****Panel manual is included and can also be accessed from the checklist & ref cards*****
